In 2013, the parade celebrates Hispanic Heritage as well as the 82nd anniversary of the founding of its organizer, Comité Mexicano Cívico Patriótico, an institution that has stood as one of the pillars of the Mexican-American community in Los Angeles since its inception in 1931.
Television networks ABC Ch. 7 will conduct a partial live broadcast of the parade as well as Univision will conduct a recording of the parade for a later broadcast on the same day.
