Argo, the winning film is based on facts that ocurred in 1979 as the Iranian Revolution reached a boiling point and a CIA exfiltration specialist conducts a risky plan to free 6 american hostages. Ben Affleck directed and acted in this movie.
"I would like to thank the Academy," joked the actor after receiving  the award.
“Lincoln” received a record-setting 13 nominations for the 18th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, beating out previous record holder “Black Swan,” which had 12 nominations in 2011.

Following closely behind was “Les Misérables,” which received 11 nominations.
David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook” also impressed with 10 nominations including Best Picture.
