United States Lost Its Third Game Under Klinsmann Ecuador Won 1-0 Jaime Ayovi Scored in the 79th Minute

Jaime Ayovi heads the ball into the net.
Ecuador defeated the United States 1-0 in a friendly match with a goal in the 79th minute by Jaime Ayovi at the Red Bull Arena.

It was the third loss in five matches for the American team under new head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who took over from Bob Bradley in July.

Walter Ayovi set up the goal with a cross from the left wing, which his cousing Jaime headed past US goalkeeper Tim Howard from the middle of the penalty area.

There is nothing Tim Howard could have done to prevent the goal.
"It's going to take time," Howard said of the start made under Klinsmann. "People are going to ask questions, and that's natural. But it's still in the infant stages."

Ecuador opened their 2014 World Cup qualifying with a 2-0 home victory over Venezuela. Jaime Ayovi scored the only goal in that game as well. He entered Tuesday's game a substitute in the second half.

The United States team had defeated Honduras 1-0 last Saturday.
